Mental strength through movement

For Lisanne Dieleman, real change starts with young people feeling seen, heard, and understood. As a former Social Work student at HZ and founder of MindFlexx, she combines sports, coaching, and mental support in an innovative approach that helps young people become stronger both physically and mentally.

MindFlexx

With MindFlexx, Lisanne focuses on young people who need support in the areas of mental health, resilience, and personal development. She deliberately chooses an accessible approach in which care is central and movement is used as the means to work towards goals. Instead of focusing solely on conversations or traditional forms of support, she uses sport as a tool to build trust, make emotions discussable, and stimulate personal growth in young people and young adults.

What makes MindFlexx distinctive is precisely this combination of mindset, sport, and guidance. Young people who struggle to connect within regular care services often feel more at ease in an active environment. This creates space for connection, self-reflection, and development. Topics such as self-confidence, dealing with emotions, setting boundaries, and cooperation are addressed naturally within the programs.

Mental resilience

The impact of the initiative is visible on multiple levels. Young people develop more structure, mental resilience, and social skills, which translates into better school performance, home situations, and social relationships. In addition, MindFlexx contributes to making mental health more discussable within sport and youth work, encouraging parents, schools, and partners to deal with this topic more consciously.

An important part of the approach is collaboration. MindFlexx works together with schools, municipalities such as Terneuzen and Sluis, and youth partners such as Youth Centre Meetpoint. Through resilience training, group activities, and coaching trajectories, a broader preventive approach emerges in which multiple organisations share responsibility for the well-being of young people.

Close to the world of young people

Students and future professionals are also inspired by the way MindFlexx works. Through internships, practical experiences, and guest lectures, they discover how important it is to work creatively and close to the lived reality of young people.

Lisanne shows that care does not have to be distant or complicated. By bringing sport and mental support together, she creates a safe environment in which young people can grow at their own pace and develop tools that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
