Feeling Sick? Start with a GP (Huisarts)

Do not go directly to the hospital.

In the Netherlands, your first point of contact is a General Practitioner (in Dutch "Huisarts").

The Huisarts will:

• Assess your symptoms
• Prescribe medication if needed
• Refer you to a specialist or hospital if necessary

Important: Tell the receptionist that you are an international student at HZ.

Making an appointment

Call your GP between 08:30 and 10:00 to book an appointment.

• 08:00 – 17:00

Use this service only for medical problems that cannot wait until the next working day.
