Public transport in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a small and densely populated country with an excellent public transport system. With this app, you can plan your journey to and from any location in the Netherlands with public transport. The OV-chipkaart is the payment method for public transport in the Netherlands. If you carry an OV-chipkaart with you, you no longer need to think about bus, train or metro tickets. There are two different types of OV-chipkaart: • An anonymous card without any discount; • A personal card, for which you need a Dutch debit card (or PayPal for students with an address in Belgium, Germany or Luxembourg.

Most students use the train to travel between cities. NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) is the national railway company in the Netherlands by train.

International students can benefit from discounted NS subscriptions.
