Everything you need to do before you can start your study at HZ!
(non-EU en EU)
2 Apply via Studielink
Create an account on Studielink. From there you can log in and apply to HZ University of Applied Sciences and the study programme(s) of your choice.
3
HZ International Application System
Once you have applied via Studielink, HZ will send you an e-mail with a link to the HZ International Application System. Here you can complete your application by attaching the required documents to your file and submit.
If you meet the requirements you will receive a letter of acceptance.
6 HZ Kickoff
Prior to the introduction days of your study programme, you will have a general introduction week in August. You will get all the practical information you need to settle in. You will also discover what HZ Community has to offer you. At the end of this week, the Kickoff Festival Zeeland will take place.
7 Visa
Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality. EU-students don’t need a visa. The same applies to you if you hold the nationality of one of the following countries: Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia, New-Zealand, South-Korea or Japan.
The HZ student office will apply for this document on your behalf after having completed the application process. You will receive a residence permit for the full duration of your studies (with a maximum of 5 years).
8 Insurance
Everyone in the Netherlands must have an insurance for medical expenses. As a foreign student you might need to get a healthcare insurance and a third-party liability insurance. Also make sure you have a travel insurance.
9 Registration with town hall
All foreign students staying in the Netherlands for a period longer than four months have to register with the municipality (Basisregistratie Personen) where they are living.
