2 Apply via Studielink

Create an account on Studielink. From there you can log in and apply to HZ University of Applied Sciences and the study programme(s) of your choice.

HZ International Application System

Once you have applied via Studielink, HZ will send you an e-mail with a link to the HZ International Application System. Here you can complete your application by attaching the required documents to your file and submit.

If you meet the requirements you will receive a letter of acceptance.

4 Study costs

In order to be able to study in the Netherlands it is important to make sure that you have sufficient financial means to support you throughout your entire study programme. The cost of living in the Netherlands is comparable to other western European countries.

5 Student accommodation

There are possibilities to find good and affordable student accommodation in Vlissingen or Middelburg.

It is important to book a room in time, so you have the best chances to book the room that suits your wishes.

Student accommodation in Zeeland

6 HZ Kickoff

Prior to the introduction days of your study programme, you will have a general introduction week in August. You will get all the practical information you need to settle in. You will also discover what HZ Community has to offer you. At the end of this week, the Kickoff Festival Zeeland will take place.

7 Visa

Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality. EU-students don’t need a visa. The same applies to you if you hold the nationality of one of the following countries: Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia, New-Zealand, South-Korea or Japan.

The HZ student office will apply for this document on your behalf after having completed the application process. You will receive a residence permit for the full duration of your studies (with a maximum of 5 years).

8 Insurance

Everyone in the Netherlands must have an insurance for medical expenses. As a foreign student you might need to get a healthcare insurance and a third-party liability insurance. Also make sure you have a travel insurance.

9 Registration with town hall

All foreign students staying in the Netherlands for a period longer than four months have to register with the municipality (Basisregistratie Personen) where they are living.
