6 HZ Kickoff

Prior to the introduction days of each study programme, students will have a general introduction week in August. They will get all the practical information you need to settle in. They will also discover what HZ Community has to offer. At the end of this week, the Kickoff Festival Zeeland will take place.

7 Visa

Whether students need a visa depends on their nationality. EU-students don’t need a visa. The same applies if they hold the nationality of one of the following countries: Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia, New-Zealand, South-Korea or Japan.

The HZ student office will apply for this document on your behalf after having completed the application process. You will receive a residence permit for the full duration of your studies (with a maximum of 5 years).

8 Insurance

Everyone in the Netherlands must have an insurance for medical expenses. Foreign students might need to get a healthcare insurance and a third-party liability insurance. Also make sure to have a travel insurance.

9 Registration with town hall

All foreign students staying in the Netherlands for a period longer than four months have to register with the municipality (Basisregistratie Personen) where they are living.
