Average study costs for one year
In order to be able to study in the Netherlands it is important to make sure to have sufficient financial means for support throughout the entire study programme. The cost of living in the Netherlands is comparable to other western European countries.
Student loan or student finance
Students need to make sure they can cover all their expenses for their study abroad period before they arrive in Vlissingen or Middelburg. It is hard to find additional funding once they are in The Netherlands. They might be eligible for a student loan or student finance. To find out whether they are entitled to a form of financial support, it is useful to check the website of DUO.nl

Cost of living
Non EU-students Non-EU students are requested to transfer € 13.600 to cover the cost of living as specified above in the table. They will receive an invoice from HZ as from May 2026. This invoice includes the required amount for ‘living expenses’ of € 13.600 and the tuition fees. This proof of having sufficient means is required by the Dutch Immigration Services (IND). Once they have arrived in The Netherlands and have opened a Dutch bank account HZ will transfer the amount of € 13.600 back to their account (if necessary, the cost of accommodation will be deducted if they choose this option and rent a room through housing corporation APV).
